Itkowitz PLLC recently assisted a greater New York City area real estate brokerage house reach a settlement with the New York State Office of the Attorney General Civil Rights Bureau (“OAG”) in connection with investigation concerning allegations of housing discrimination based on lawful source of income.  Immediately after being retained, Itkowitz commenced negotiations with the OAG to limit the scope of its investigation and the requests made pursuant to its subpoena power.  As a result, the client was able to save thousands of dollars in expenses and proceed with an expedited discovery phase.  Once discovery was completed, Itkowitz and the OAG again resumed negotiations and were ultimately able to reach a settlement on mutually agreeable terms.
